Parkside spurs womens football club
The Ascot Vale Football Club has a strong partnership with the Parkside Spurs Womens Football Club. The Parkside Spurs are a Women's Australian rules football club based in Footscray playing home games at Henry Turner Oval.
They were formerly known as the St Albans Spurs and then Western Spurs who competed in the Victorian Women's Football League and reserves competition. They were founded in 1993 by Debbie Lee who has become a significant figure in the progression and success of women's AFL.
In 2015 the club was rebranded and relocated to Footscray, and eventually merging with the Men’s club Parkside. The Spurs have strong ties to the Western Bulldogs; from 2018 their VFL Women's side has even used their name and colours.
The Parkside Spurs are always growing the footprint of girls and women’s football. If you are looking for a modern professional women’s club or just wanting to play AFL football for the first time, please get in touch today.
